Taking eMedia Forward

At Red 7 Media, Dave has played an integral role in advancing the development of the company's Web portfolio, led by the expansion and relaunch of flagship site FolioMag.com.

In the last year, we've launched new career centers and professional/social networks in the Events and Magazine Publishing space, enhanced the presence of our conferences online, upgraded internal technologies, increased workflow and much more. More on the latest launches by Red 7 can be found on the right side of this page.

At Cygnus Business Media, Dave served as Vice President of the company's Interactive Division from 2003-2006, where he oversaw the development of nearly 30 business-to-business industry Web properties, including the acquisition and re-launch of leading law enforcement community and news site Officer.com and the ASBPE award-winning security portal SecurityInfoWatch.com.

Other new sites were launched in Airport Business, Kitchen & Bath Design, Imaging Info and Supply & Demand Chain -- just to name a few. Dave worked closely with the company's leading print and trade show groups to grow the company's footprint online significantly.

Market leading programs included FAA-sanctioned on demand re-certification, popular podcast series, Webcasts, content-driven video centers, paid access content and services, comprehensive industry buyer's guides, new Google search integration and much more.

Dave built the company's Interactive Division from scratch, including design, technology and content teams, driving multi-million dollar revenue. In 2005, he was named one of MIN Magazine's 21 Most Intriguing media industry executives. (pictured above - read the story)

Dave is best known for founding leading B2B and public safety portal Firehouse.com in 1998. The site -- visited by over 500,000 unique visitors monthly -- has been the recipient of many awards including top B2B Web honors from FOLIO:, American Business Media and the American Society of Business Press Editors.

Thousands Join Red 7's New Professional and Social Networks in the Live Event and Magazine/eMedia Publishing Verticals

July 2008 -- In just a month, some 4,000 professionals have joined Red 7's new professional and social networks. EventPeeps.com and FOLIO: mediaPRO were launched as beta sites in June and have grown rapidly since, with more than 1,500 members each. FirefighterNation.com Tops 21,000 Members and 150,000 Monthly Visits, Featured in Baltimore Sun

On January 1st, FirefighterNation.com topped 10,000 registered users and has continued to increase dramatically in the last few weeks, eclipsing 21,000. FirefighterNation.com launched in late Summer 2007 and is the Web's social network just for firefighters, EMS and rescue. The site was featured in the Baltimore Sun on January 3rd in an article about niche social networks and in an article on CIO.com. It is one of the most visited communities on the Ning platform, which powers nearly 300,000 networks.



FOLIO: Relaunch -- Comprehensive Magazine Publishing Industry News & Information Resource

In November, Red 7 Media relaunched FOLIOMag.com, expanding upon the Web's top destination for magazine industry professionals. The totally revamped site offers breaking news, dozens of active industry bloggers, multimedia including video, podcasts, Webcasts and slideshows, events calendar, career center and much more. In 2008, we're adding a completely upgraded industry supplier directory, mobile edition and community features ... just to name a few. Overall, FOLIOMag.com traffic has increased nearly 100% since the relaunch -- and overall web traffic to all FOLIO online products has tripled. The core of the site was built in Drupal, an open source content management system, with numerous levels of custom development and design.



National Volunteer Fire Council Launches Junior Firefighter Program, Gets $400,000 in Grant Funding

In 2007, I was proud to have served as Program Coordinator of the NVFC's Junior Firefighter Program, developing the framework of a program aimed at giving young people the chance to learn about local fire, rescue and emergency medical services response organizations in a safe, controlled, educational and fun manner -- and it provides volunteer departments with an excellent recruitment tool. Learn more about the program, read the story on Firehouse.com or watch the video news. The program has received a $400,000 grant from the Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation. I'll be serving on the National Advisory Group for the program.



Career Destinations Launch in Event & Magazine Markets

In October 2007, Red 7 Media launched new career/job destinations in the event and magazine publishing industries. EventCareers.com serves the event design, event marketing and trade show industry providing hundreds of active job listings, including resume search, e-mail alerts, candidate tracking and much more. FOLIOCareers.com serves offers the same for the magazine publishing side of Red 7's business. Our goal is for these sites to be the employment destination for the markets served by Red 7. Red 7 created a highly effective design integrated into the Adicio platform, which powers the backend.



OakHillHoops.com: Destination for National High School Basketball Powerhouse

OakHillHoops.com is averaging thousands of visitors each week, as high school basketball enthusiasts check out the latest goings on with Oak Hill Academy Basketball. The Warriors are nationally ranked amongst the Top 25 teams and have seven mythical national high school basketball championships, including last year. This is more of a personal project as a former manager of the team.



Event Marketing Institute Launches Membership-Based Site at EventMarketing.com

In September, Red 7 launched EventMarketing.com, a web-based membership platform for the The Event Marketing Institute (EMI). EMI is a think tank, educator, and global professional resource dedicated to the advancement and development of best practices, insights and business intelligence for individuals and companies using live marketing as a strategic marketing initiative. The site launched with global underwriters and sponsors which include George P Johnson, Sparks, ELG, Encore Nationwise, Maritz and Ogilvy Action.



New Position at Red 7 Media

In April 2007, I assumed a newly created role at Red 7 Media, a leader in the publishing and event space. As Director of Interactive Business Strategy, I'll take the lead role in developing and managing the interactive businesses across the company's portfolio of magazine brands, which include FOLIO Magazine and Circulation Management in the publishing sector; and Event Marketer, Event Design, and Agenda in the event industry.
